I'm Kimry Jelen

Most of my paintings are acrylic or mixed media. I paint with a textured, highly colorful style that flows freely from abstract to representational. My creativity is sparked by my love of nature and animals—horses in particular. In a time when so many of us feel separate from the natural world, my hope is these paintings draw viewers back to our true connectedness with nature, each other, and ourselves. For me, painting is almost like sculpting. I can feel the essence and character of the landscapes and animals. For me, there’s nothing better than hearing that one of my paintings has touched someone’s heart or helped open them up to see an animal's personality. I live in a small town in the middle of the Oregon High Desert; painting, working with horses, and drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the surroundings and the critters I care for.

Inspiration
I like to create works of art that connect us. I summon the feeling of special moments with my animal friends or the beauty around me, put my heart in my hands and paint.
Techniques
My style is... well, I really don't have a style. Every animal, every flower, every landscape has its own character that I try to share in acrylic or mixed media, with color and texture.
career highlights
I'm very grateful to have been invited to show my work at various major venues like the World Equestrian Games in France and the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
