Each morning the Three Sisters Mountains have a different look to them. I started to paint a series of the mountains with the beautiful shadows, shades and hues.

When I lived in Sisters, Oregon, I was mesmerized by the Three Sisters every morning I walked the dogs. I would crest the hill and look out over at the mountains. Many exclamations of oooooos and awhhhhs would happen and then I would take those images in my mind back to the studio. For a while I painted the mountains as a warm up. A meditation to ground myself and think of nature and their beauty. They have a very calming effect on me. Many are painted over into horses, but some of these went past the warm up phase. I like the different colors in this one, it was really cold and frosty this morning the it created a very unique palette.
